PC World

“I like QG|Software’s 5pm, a relatively inexpensive ($18 per month and up), easy-to-use project management service that can help you prioritize your tasks and manage smaller projects. It sports a good-looking user interface that is more customizable than most other Web-based services.”

“5pm handles more than the popular Basecamp, but still manages to be easy for a project management neophyte to understand.”

Read the whole article on PCWorld.com. TGIF and have a great weekend!

Next week we plan to update our plans, the main change being the double to triple file storage space amount allocated for each plan. The existing users will not need to change their plans. Also, the custom plans will still be available.

5pm API

5pm opens its platform by providing an API for accessing its projects, tasks and other information. 5pm API is currently in beta, and will be improved and expanded using the feedback from third-party developers. You can be the first one to write a custom 5pm widget! Check our website for more details.

Migrating from Basecamp to 5pm

Import data from Basecamp to 5pm

Today Basecamp is phasing out the support for Internet Explorer 6. We have some good news for IE 6 users (estimated at about 30%). We just released a Basecamp to 5pm import feature, that will let you move your data into 5pm in no time (no matter what browser you use). Check our website for more details. TGIF.

Following up on our post about 5pm supporting Firefox 3, we did run a couple of tests and here are the results:

5pm UI speed in different browsers

We measured the relative time it takes to render the main 5pm screens. As you can see, Firefox 3 is more than twice as fast as Firefox 2 – an amazing speed improvement. So, if you are still using Firefox 2, you may consider upgrading.

Fastest, by far, is still Safari, with IE 6 and IE 7 performing about the same and still slower than the other browsers.

5pm has a very quick interface that requires less clicks and will run fast in all the supported browsers.
