5pm will be phasing out support for IE6

September 1, 2009

We will be starting to phase out the support for Internet Explorer 6. This browser has been around from 2001 and we decided it is time to move on. This will help us to provide a better support for all the modern browsers.

Please note that many other companies are starting or already went through the same process, so it may be a good time to upgrade your browser. Here is where you can get the browsers supported by 5pm:

Feel free to email our support for any questions.

Desupporting is a big problem for me – I work as a contractor in local government and they are notoriously behind the times. They’re still using IE6 and have absolutely no plans to upgrade, and I can’t make them. They lock their systems down so you can’t upgrade yourself, so this will probably rule me out of a subscription unfortunately :-(

Sharon> I’m sorry to hear that. With IE6 they will not be able to use most of the applications soon. Companies like Google are already going through the phase out. Not to mention all others. So sooner or later they will have to upgrade.

The good news is that 5pm will still work on IE6 for some time. Most likely long time, depending on the new features we introduce. It’s a very gradual phase out.
